    CUDA 2017 Swim Team Registration

Calling all Cudas! Spring Break is over and that means it is time for Swim Team Registrations to begin! There have been a lot of changes over the winter, and the swim team needs you... So let's get to it.

    1. We have a new Swim Coach. Her name is Melissa and I have put her bio at the end of the email. We are planning a Meet Coach Melissa day on April 1st from 10-2 so mark your calendars.

    2. Landa is not going to be able to be the Team Rep this season, so we are looking to put together a committee of parents willing to help fill her role. If you have any interest in helping in this capacity, please let reply to this email. As of right now, we have Julie Lundquist and Katie Rohe. The goal is to get one or two more willing parents and split up the team rep duties so the burden is not as great for one person.

    3. Registration is now OPEN! Go to ccracudas.swim-team.us to sign-up. We will also have signups at the pool starting March 25th at 10am.

    5. We need swimmers! If you have any friends that have ever shown interest in swimming, invite them to join us this season! We are offering a new member incentive for referrals of $25/family to be applied to the following years membership fees. The goal is to encourage all members to get the word out and fill our relays with swimmers! :)

    6. We need parent volunteers! There are a lot of positions open to be filled from pep rallies, coordinating concessions, officials and the like. Please be thinking about how you are willing to help our swimmers this season. There will be signups at registration and probably another email detailing specifics. If you have any interest in being an official, the class schedules have been posted. I will be sending out the schedules later this week.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I will do my best to answer them. We look forward to a great swim season, but cannot accomplish anything without your help!

    Coach Melissa Bio
Melissa Montgomery grew up in the pool, swimming year-round from the age of 6 in a small town outside of Cleveland, Ohio. Being a part of a tight-knit team taught Melissa that swimming is not just about the competition or athleticism; it’s about building friendships, character, and confidence to improve. She learned that friendships built in the pool are lasting, as her 8 & Under Relays still hold records to this day! Until age 18, Melissa swam on several teams outside of Ohio in Illinois and Pennsylvania before attending Penn State University to study Mathematics Education at the Secondary level. She traveled to Texas to begin her teaching career at Cypress Ridge High School. She is now in her tenth year, no longer in the classroom, but instead supporting teachers to grow in their instructional practices as the Math Campus Curriculum Coach and Department Chair. The love of the pool has been passed down to Melissa’s daughter, Lillian, who swam on her first team last summer at age 5 and is continuing to build her skills on a year-round team at age 6. Lillian is seeing that the lessons we learn in the pool are the same as in the classroom: work hard, never give up, and always have fun!
