A Note from Coach Alicia
Wow! What an amazing practice run at Time Trials this morning! We definitely have some awesome parents who helped the meet run smoothly. Thank you to all our volunteers - timers, scribes, officials, ready bench, runners, and computer table!
Your swimmers did a great job today! They all finished their races and got a base time for meet entries. Sometimes, even I forget that it take a few weeks to get their pool lungs and coordination back after nine months of no swimming. I know we have some things to work on during practices, but I am so proud of each and every one of our Barracudas! It was fantastic to see teammates cheer each other on and trade feedback.
Looking forward to this next week at practice, In the Advance and Intermediate, we will focus on breastroke and butterfly; while in Beginner, swimmers will be working on backstroke. Since the breastroke and butterfly are executed with both arms, simultaneously, swimmers must touch with two hands at the wall, no flip turns. In backstroke, our 8 and unders need to make sure that they touch on their back. These can get them disqualified (DQ'd) at the next swim meet. Please help me remind your swimmers of this before practice. The more they hear it, the more likely they are to do it at a swim meet. Please try to catch them doing it right at practice!
Thank you for allowing me to coach your children! You guys are doing an amazing job as parents! These Barracudas are so polite and respectful; I have heard so many "Yes, Ma'am's" to my requests during practice. Looking forward to the upcoming week of practice and our first dual meet @Glencairn!
Go, Barracudas!
